Tonight on TV: Sept 18

by Dana Franks on September 18th, 2008

smallville-clark.jpgABC: Ugly Betty — The finale for the second season. Lindsay Lohan and Naomi Campbell are in it. Not enough for you? Betty makes a tough decision between two men. After what she’s been through with Henry and his kid, it’s bound to be heartwrenching.

Grey’s Anatomy — Also a season finale. I would write up a description, but we already know there’s going to be lots of drama both romantically and medically, so what else can I really say? Cristina (who has been wasted for over a year) gets her mojo back after being given the sparkle pager. Okay.

CBS: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation — The team investigates a body that’s found with green blood. Pardon me, but didn’t the X-Files do this story? If people start axphixiating when exposed to it, I rest my case.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (9 p.m.) — The team investigates the death of a difficult sitcom star (Katey Segal). If you remember back on Monday, the CSI writers wrote an episode of “Two and a Half Men”. This time that sitcom’s writers wrote the CSI ep. Nice and unusual synergy.

Flashpoint (new) — The team tries to save a kidnapped teen and discovers that one of the kidnappers was reported as a missing kid years before. Sounds gripping but emotionally trying.

NBC: America’s Got Talent (new) — The final five finalists are revealed, and Natasha Bedingfield sings. I don’t know who her American booking agent is, but between this, “The Hills” and her appearance on “The View” that I’ve seen at least three times, they deserve a raise.

My Name Is Earl — Earl’s devotion to his list threatens his relationship with Billie (Alyssa Milano). It must suck to come in second to a piece of paper.

The Office –  Toby’s goodbye party. And if you missed the big reveal at the end that left a huge question mark at the end of the season, here’s your last chance to see it before the season premiere.

ER — A drunken patient (Steve Buscemi) endangers the County staff. I appreciate the Buscemi casting, but how many times can they endanger the staff without wearing us out? Since the show’s ending in the new season, maybe this many times.

CW: Smallville (new) — Clark (above) has lost his powers, Chloe is being targeted for hers, and the Justice League’s having a hard time locating Clark.  Talk about shaking things up. More here.

Supernatural (new) — Dean’s escaped from Hell by unknown means. The sound you hear is a thousand fanfic writers coming up with their own explanations. More here.

Fox: Hole in the Wall (new) — The title is the description. If you like “Wipeout”, check this out. It’s actually really cool.

Kitchen Nightmares (new) — I know a lot of foodie folks who are really digging this much more than the last season of “Hell’s Kitchen”. I prefer the British version on BBC America, but I have to agree. And the continuing drama at Gordon Ramsey’s own restaurants only add to his cachet.

There’s also a “Project Runway” marathon on Bravo, and a “House” marathon on USA.  And the Sela Ward eps are in the “House” marathon, if you want to remember the good ol’ days before Amber broke up the platonic duo of House and Wilson.
