Half Their Size: The People Magazine Weight Loss Challenge — The show chronicles the journey of eight Mississippi residents as they lose weight through nutrition and exercise, not surgery. Good for them! I’ll eat my takeout lo mein on their behalf.

CBS: The Mentalist –  The team looks for a Napa Valley waitress, but Patrick decides to do things his way using a team member as bait. I’m sure that will turn out great.

NBC: The Biggest Loser: Families — The contestants must work out at the Grand Canyon without trainers, and the health of one team member deteriorates. I can’t say whether one would have to do with the other, but the Grand Canyon isn’t exactly a picnic to run around even without obesity.

Fox: House — House uses his new PI (who is really the most awesome character they’ve added except for the dearly-departed Amber) to spy on his team members’ personal lives. Hopefully they’re more interesting than their work lives. Maybe they should have some stuff like Chase’s BDSM fetish.

Fringe — A weird cylinder is found at the site of a huge explosion in NYC, and Broyles and his team try to figure out its signifigance. Last week was “X-Files” homage, so this week must be “Torchwood” time.

The CW: 90210 — Annie meets a producer at a show her mom’s photographing who offers her and Adrianna an audition. In the meantime, Kelly is contacted by an old friend who makes her reconsider her relationship with Ryan. Would that be an off-screen phone call from Dylan or Brandon?

Privileged — Megan finds an adult DVD in Rose’s bookbag, and Rose admits she’s not a virgin. Sounds like a fun conversation.

Bravo: The Rachel Zoe Project – Rachel must find the perfect dress for Debra Messing for the SAG Awards while contending with a flood in her studio.

MTV: Making the Band — The flirtations between band members increase and lead to a wild LA show.

Fox: House — The team races to figure out why the people who received donor organs from a person who died in an industrial accident months before are dying. In the meantime, House uses a PI to snoop on Wilson and a colleague he’s considering to replace Wilson as his friend. I suspect that Wilson will find out and not be thrilled. For more, click here.

Fringe — While investigating the death of commuters on a bus, the team reaches out to a troubled man who has precognitive abilities. And then Mulder comes in and says it’s caused by aliens, at which point Scully says he’s wrong. For more, click here.

CBS: The Mentalist — A former fake psychic uses his abilities to help a crime team. I would assume that no longer makes him “fake”? In the pilot episode, he investigates the death of a pro golfer’s wife and doctor.

Without A Trace — The team looks for a man whose daughter disappeared years before, and there’s a new boss in town (Steven Weber).

NBC: The Biggest Loser: Families — This new spin on “The Biggest Lose” franchise features Rocco DiSpirito helping families cook healthy meals as they compete to lose weight. I actually enjoy watching Rocco, and I think this is a better fit than “The Restaurant”.

Law & Order: SVU – Luke Perry is on tonight’s show. That’s really all I have to say for most of you.

CW: 90210 –  Annie and Ty grow closer as the spring play approaches, but her parents worry that they’re getting too close. I think the plotlines for this show are a combination of the original show and “High School Musical”.

Privileged — Rose finds out that she has to repeat her freshman year because of bad grades, but apparently doesn’t learn her lesson, because she ditches tutoring to attend a yacht party. In the meantime, Megan seems to be much in demand as she is pulled between three guys, including the school headmaster.

- Fox has ordered 13 episodes of Imagine/20th Century Fox TV’s “Lie To Me”, which is slated to star Tim Roth as a human lie detector who can tell who’s being honest and who’s not, based on physical clues (can’t we all?) The show, which also stars Kelli Williams, will be angling for a midseason slot alongside Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse”, “Courtroom K,” “The Cleveland Show,” and “Outnumbered”. Could this mean bad things for the already troubled development of “Dollhouse”?

- Usually television critics get begging letters and DVDs when a show is wanting Emmy consideration. But now the writing and production staff of “Do Not Disturb” have sent critics a letter admitting the first show aired by Fox of their sitcom pretty much sucked, but there are still better eps waiting to be aired that might get shelved if they don’t get some love in the press. Fast.

“We created much confusion and we deserve all the criticism, the bad puns (i.e. ‘an early checkout from the fall season,’ ‘Do Not Make in the First Place,’ etc.) and, yes, even the accusation that it very well could be the final nail in the multicamera sitcom’s coffin,” the scribes wrote in their letter.

- This doesn’t help all of y’all in Canada, but for the Americans, here’s the first episode of the new season of “Chuck”, a week before it airs on NBC on Sept. 29. And it looks much improved!
