So Long, Farewell: Bernie Mac
Comedian and TV actor Bernie Mac died this morning at a Chicago hospital from complications from pneumonia. Mac had been hospitalized for a week with the illness, and had previously disclosed that he had sarcoidosis, a rare autoimmune disease that often creates scar tissue in the lungs. However, his family said Saturday that he’d been in remission with that disease for some time.
Mac, whose birth name was Bernard Jeffrey McCullough, worked his way up from driving a Wonder Bread truck in southside Chicago to becoming one of the “Original Kings of Comedy” and starring in Fox’s “The Bernie Mac Show”. …read more
