Fans Left Disappointed At ‘Dallas’ Reunion

Fans Left Disappointed At ‘Dallas’ Reunion

It should have been a grand time to remember the good ol’ days of sudsy primetime TV, as the cast of “Dallas” reunited at the famed Southfork Ranch to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary.
But after more fans showed up than expected, the event ended up causing as much drama as J.R. ever did on the show. And some fans who had shelled out up to $1,000 to get a chance to meet stars like Larry Haglund and Patrick Duffy were left feeling cheated.
“It was a huge letdown — totally not worth it,” Elizabeth Knight told Dallas station WFAA after paying …read more

Olympic Opening Ceremonies Show Strong Ratings

Olympic Opening Ceremonies Show Strong Ratings

So, what did you think of the Olympic Opening Ceremonies Friday in Beijing? Did you find them cool and moving, or basically a collection of funny cliches, or an international disgrace?
If you look at what people have said over on Twitter the last two days, opinions are completely random, and a picture over at Kids’ Health Notes is a prime example of the details that people caught.
The one thing that is indisputable is that people watched, and it’s become a two-year tradition for Americans to sit down and enjoy them in our own ways. And if you think of …read more

ComicCon SD 2008: A Look At ‘Fringe’

ComicCon SD 2008: A Look At ‘Fringe’

Courtesy of Mahalo Daily, here’s some attendees of ComicCon in San Diego talking about all the TV stars and directors they plan to see, along with a sneak peek at J.J. Abrams’ highly anticipated new series, “Fringe”.

On a completely gratuitous and personal note, if anyone goes to the “Doctor Who” and “Torchwood” panels and gets video, please email me. I’ll be happy to post it with credit and squees. (I’ve never properly introduced myself here, but I’m a HUGE UK TV fangirl.)

NBC’s panel at the Television Critics Association press tour opened up with a “surprise” that really wasn’t that surprising — in a “stunt that fell a bit flat”, Jay Leno impersonated Jimmy Kimmel impersonating a journalist last week at ABC’s panel. Confused enough? Leno, wearing a bald cap, was “rendered…unrecognizable” to the Los Angeles Times’ “Show Tracker” (and yeah, he pretty much is), and didn’t offer questions as jokes. Even NBC Entertainment co-president Marc Graboff didn’t recognize him in the green room before the event.
But Leno did show that he’s willing to be a good sport and suck up …read more

TCA Roundup Part 1: The Return of Brenda and the Fate of Izzy

TCA Roundup Part 1: The Return of Brenda and the Fate of Izzy

Bits and pieces of press coverage of the summer TCA panels, broken into posts over the next couple of days:
“90210 2.0″: If most of the public heard about one thing that happened at the network panels overall, it’s that Shannen Doherty will be in the “Beverly Hills: 90210″ spinoff. Her publicist must be thrilled. People seem to overlook that there are, um, real teens in this show, and DVR Playground has a good look at them.  If you want to feel old, think about the fact that Shenae Grimes (who has Rob Estes and Lori McLoughlin as on-screen parents) was …read more

Hart Hanson’s Journey With Bones

Hart Hanson, Executive Producer for Bones, gave an excellent talk at the Banff World Television Festival in Alberta last week: from how the show was created, to how David Boreanaz was cast (and his initial dislike for Emily Deschanel!), to spoilers for the next season. Not to mention what would have happened to Zack Addy had the full Season 3 aired without the strike interruption.
Hart Hanson, who has been a great supporter for our SearchingBones.com site, talks about the series of decisions that led him to Bones. After a number of unusual decisions in the industry, including quitting a series, …read more
