Backstage with Wintersleep
Wintersleep, winners of the Juno for New Group of the Year, come backstage and give us some insight. After a slow question start about how they like Lethbridge, they move onto more interesting topics.
They say Calgary is a great music town, and they have listened to some great bands here. How for Maritime acts to succeed? Aside from getting out of the Maritimes (joke), just get out and tour.
How can you prepare for the Junos? Well, aside from dressing for the night (which they didn’t do so much), they just wanted to "be" there. Indeed, the "being there" …read more

Juno Awards – Feist Sweeps the Junos
Greg Keelor and Jim Cuddy from Blue Rodeo present the very last Juno Award of the night. And it’s for the big one: Album of the Year.
Who’s up for this big honor: Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion, Feist, and Michael Buble. And the Juno goes to… FEIST. Her fifth award of the night!! Calgary’s own Feist becomes the biggest Juno Award winner for 2008.
Feist picks up 5 Juno Awards:
Artist of the year
Songwriter of the year
Single of the year
Top album
Best pop album
This time, Feist gives a longer thank you speech, and asks not to be cut off by the band. She thanks …read more
Juno Awards – Comedy with Russell, Michael Buble
Russell Peters does a comedy sketch with Jann Arden, who mistakes him for somebody else. Jann recommends not mentioning Toronto during the Junos. She then fits him up with traditional Calgary clothes – cowboy style!
And true to that, Russell Peters is now on stage in his cowboy hat, jeans and belt buckle. And says "this cowboy thing is irritating," then pulls several socks out of his groin that were there to enhance the junk in his trunk.
Michael Buble, barely out of the media room, is hyped up on stage to perform his famed "Everything," in a remix that is …read more
Juno Awards – Catching Up with Triumph
Triumph, the band that was just inducted into the Hall of Fame, comes backstage for photos and an interview, along with Tom Cochrane, who presented the award.
How did Triumph get where it is? Getting out and networking. And, in terms of getting back together and going back on tour, what is the biggest concern? Jokingly, that they suck. But, more seriously, they have been on tour enough times to be unphased by it.
Were they asked to play tonight? Although they plan a reunion tour, they have not rehearsed together yet even once! They admit their work ethic was always inspired …read more
Juno Awards – Getting Dirty with Michael Buble
While the show goes on, Michael Buble comes backstage to get his photograph and talk to the media. He starts off joking about his stage reference to Doritos, and mentions that watching dirty movies and eating Doritos is not a good combination, for reasons that become quite messy.
"I am so disgustingly unclassy, but I’m Michael Buble"
Michael then jokes about regretting not writing "1234" and then croons a little of it.
Michael Buble then says, not a drinker, that he’ll celebrate his night with cookies. Chocolate cookies. And who will he call first? Emily, because his awards trumps her single Golden Globe. …read more
Juno Awards – Feist and Michael Buble
Russell Peters goes up to Moses Znaimer (co-founder and head of Citytv) in the audience, as recipient of the Walt Grealis Award, and who is sitting next to him? Our very own Jeanne Dupuis! Rock on girl!
The next performance of the night is none other than four-time this weekend (so far) Juno winner Feist performing "Sealion" – thankfully she doesn’t give the same performance over and over like some performers. Feist rocks it out, amazing job!
Illscarlette and Paul, there as the "Dorito fan", present the Doritos sponsored Juno Fan Choice Award. Nominees are Avril Lavigne, Nelly Furtado, Claude Bubois, Celine …read more

Juno Awards – Ko Ko and Measha
Russel Peters opens up this segment on as a DJ – go Russel! He’s not so bad as a DJ.
Michael Buble (the man of the hour) is here to support youth music, and introduces a young jazz trio Ko Ko (Ryley Bennett, Josh Crowhurst, Elliot Cudmore). It’s a short set, but they do a good job.
Violinist James Ehnes then introduces our next performance, which is by none other than Measha Brueggergosman, who must be tired at this point. Maesha was last night’s host of the Juno Gala Awards. Measha gives a performance of "Amor" & "When Summer Comes" …read more

Juno Awards – Finger Eleven and Pop Album Award
Finger Eleven rocks the house with a performance of "Paralyzer" accompanied by, interestingly enough, the Clagary Youth Orchestra. Cool for them!
The next award up for grabs is Pop Album of the Year presented by Belly & Deborah Cox! Belly is decently funny during the presentation. Nominees include: Feist, Celine Dion, Bedouin Soudclash, Michael Buble and Anne Murray.
The winner is…. Feist! It’s a Feist sweep, as anticipated! Her winning album is "The Reminder."

Juno Awards Continued
Avril Lavigne gives a classic performance of "Girlfriend" to a crowd absolutely raging. I can hear the screams and cheering from the media room. Avril can always be depended on for a great live performance – well sung, well choreographed.
Country star Ian Tyson then presents the award for Country Recording of the Year – nominees are Shane Yellowbird, Arron Lines, Paul Brandt, Gord Bamford and Johnny Reid. Many of these guys were at the FanFare or at the Gala Awards last night – so cute! The winner is… Paul Brandt! For his single "Risk".
