Fans Left Disappointed At ‘Dallas’ Reunion

It should have been a grand time to remember the good ol’ days of sudsy primetime TV, as the cast of “Dallas” reunited at the famed Southfork Ranch to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary.

But after more fans showed up than expected, the event ended up causing as much drama as J.R. ever did on the show. And some fans who had shelled out up to $1,000 to get a chance to meet stars like Larry Haglund and Patrick Duffy were left feeling cheated.

“It was a huge letdown — totally not worth it,” Elizabeth Knight told Dallas station WFAA after paying $400 but not getting to meet any of the stars. “I do feel like I got really ripped off.”

The organizer of the event told The Associated Press that about 4,000 fans showed up — far more than the 2,000 planners had expected — and that it was management by the folks who run Southfork that kept some people from getting what they paid for.  However, officials from the ranch disputed the number of people who showed up, saying there was only about 1,500 to 2,000 people there, and said that the event’s organizers were in charge of security and organizing the access given to different groups of fans.

In any case, event organizers said they plan to work out some sort of compensation for people who paid more for tickets and didn’t get to meet the cast. In the meantime, one woman at the even, Joy Garcia, ended up benefitting from the mixup.

“We were extremely happy that we were in the $100 section because we got the same access that everyone else did,” she said.
