Palin On SNL? Probably Not Tonight, But…

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton on Saturday Night Live
So the rumors are hot and heavy that vice-presidential candidate is going to try to get “back atcha” with a little self-humor by appearing on “Saturday Night Live”, the show that has single-handedly taught even deep Southerners how to talk with a respectable fake Alaskan accent. And the talk all over Twitter (better known as the best breaking news source in the world at the moment) is that she’s going to show up tonight.

But not so fast, guys. If Cindy Adams with the New York Post is to be believed, Palin appearing on the show on Oct. 25 is a “done deal”. If you are a Barack Obama fan, insert your own joke about needed rehearsal time. If you’re a McCain supporter, just salivate at the thought of her out-Palin-ing Tina Fey. Actually, the Obama fans can also do that.

In any case, Palin seems to not be in New York getting ready for dress rehearsal at this point. Today she was in Johnstown, Pa. talking up Obama’s views on abortion. And tonight she dropped the puck in Philadelphia at a Flyers-Rangers hockey game, where she might not have gotten the expected reaction from a large portion of the audience. She might want to keep that in mind for the SNL gig, actually.

But as someone pointed out on Twitter, Philly is only a short ride from NYC, and stranger things have happened on “Weekend Update”. So stay tuned. If she shows, I’ll let you know.
