Today is a very, very sad day for many in the “Doctor Who” fandom. The actor who has portrayed the 10th regeneration of the Doctor, David Tennant, will be leaving the TARDIS behind in 2009.
Tennant, who made the announcement after winning the outstanding drama performance award at the National Television Awards on Wednesday, said “When Doctor Who returns in 2010 it won’t be with me.”
The show, which is slated to return for a full season in 2010 after five specials starring Tennant in 2009, will also be changing executive producers that year. Russell T. Davies, who …read more

Tonight on TV: Oct 29

The night will begin on NBC, CBS, Fox, and BET with presidential candidate Barack Obama’s 30-minute commercial. If that’s not your cup of tea, ABC’s got this lovely show called “Pushing Daisies” that it really wishes you’d watch, and there’s always “America’s Next Top Model”…
ABC: Pushing Daisies — A man asking about Dale’s father shows up at the Pie Hole. Also, Emerson reunites with Simone. I hope this show is more interesting than my preview.
Private Practice — Sam and Simone compete over who should run the practice, while Addison treats an Afghan girl who wants to hide her past (my …read more

‘Heroes’ Producer Asks Fans One Question

‘Heroes’ Producer Asks Fans One Question

One of the best uses of modern statistics and polling has done is in bringing things out of test screenings and focus groups to let them know women hate one character or think another is too stereotypical, et. al.
But by the power of the Internet (and a great little webcasting platform called Seesmic) a producer of the show “Heroes” to find out one thing — how many people watch his show on the Web through Hulu or P2P shares, downloaded them from iTunes or simply TiVo it. He also wants to know what you like about that method you like.

Stupid Questions for Networks: Taking A Chance At 10 p.m.

Stupid Questions for Networks: Taking A Chance At 10 p.m.

There was a big article in the Los Angeles Times today about how networks are sucking wind at the moment after 10 p.m. EST.
Sez the LAT:
Broadcasters have had trouble coaxing audiences back to all of their shows since the three-month writers strike ended last season, but nowhere have the troubles been more acute this fall than at 10 p.m., with disappointing ratings for such dramas as ABC’s “Dirty Sexy Money” and “Life on Mars,” CBS’ “Without a Trace” and NBC’s “Lipstick Jungle” and the new Christian Slater caper, “My Own Worst Enemy.”
I think it’s early to call “Life On Mars” …read more

Tonight on TV: Oct. 27

It’s a night of repeats for CBS — a smart move because it’s hard to compete against Fox and NBC tonight.
Fox: The World Series: Game 5 — Philadelphia Phillies vs. Tampa Bay Rays — The Phillies are leading 3-1, so this is the last chance for the Rays to pull something out. Don’t count on it.
ABC: Dancing With the Stars — The rumor is that the folks behind the scenes (in particular, Susan Lucci) really, really, really want Cloris Leachman gone. It’s kinda like what happened with Mel B. last year — no one expected her to be around for …read more

ABC: Wife Swap –A Cajun swamp wife switches places with a ballet dancer in California. Cue to culture shock.
Supernanny — Jo tries to make piece in a family where a father and his 16-year-old daughter fight over issues of trust. In the meantime, the kids come and go from the house as they like. Sounds like a bit of a double-standard here.
CBS: Ghost Whisperer — As Melinda tries to enjoy a romantic cruise with Jim, she encounters an angry ghost who’s haunting an elderly couple. Man, you can’t take her anywhere…
The Ex List –Bella reconnects with a surfing boy ex, …read more

US ‘Kath & Kim’ Canceled In Australia

US ‘Kath & Kim’ Canceled In Australia

You know that a remake of a foreign show is doing badly when it gets canceled in the country where the original hailed from. It only took “Kath & Kim” about three weeks to earn that.
Australian network Channel 7 has dropped NBC’s remake of the Aussie hit comedy after two weeks. According to News.com.au, the second week’s airing only attracted 729,000 viewers.
A spokesman for Seven said the re-airs will return later during the summer after the key ratings period.
“The figures didn’t stand up for its second outing,” the spokesman said.
For comparison’s sake, the premiere of the fourth season of the …read more

VIDEO: Sneak Peek of ‘The City’

For everyone who thinks that Whitney Port is the only remaining sane person on “The Hills”, MTV has posted a sneak peek of her spinoff show “The City”, which is set in New York City.

For everyone who has never read the dearly departed Socialite Rank blog, the “Olivia” shown in the clip is controversial socialite Olivia Palmero, who is apparently going to figure large as Whitney starts her new job at Diane von Fustenberg. The snarking is already going full-steam, with fellow celeb-socialite Samantha Ronson dubbing Palmero “a new Heidi [Montag] on the rise.”
Beyond that, it looks like Whitney is …read more
