Dragon*Con Pt. 1: Pictures!

I just arrived back home after attending Dragon*Con in Atlanta during the Labor Day weekend. Along with tens of thousands of attendees, I’m unloading bags and boxes of things picked up at from panels and vendors, pictures and videos taken at the event, and a ton of sweaty clothes. In case you’ve never been to Atlanta in August, it’s about 150 degrees at all times and there are many elevators stuffed to the gills.
For those who have never heard of it, some say it’s basically the ComicCon for the Southeast U.S., but that’s really an understatement. While ComicCon San Diego has become the best known venue for many American shows, Dragon*Con is a very fan-based convention that specializes in almost exclusively science-fiction content. And for some of the shows who have been used and abused by networks (such as Firefly) it has extended the lifespan of fandoms that just won’t go away.
I will have a lot of content coming from D*C events and panels (including an extra special interview and profile of Gareth David-Lloyd of “Torchwood“) but for now here’s a few pictures I took (I stuck to costume shots, and this isn’t even 1/10th of the number that were on display by fans) and a link to some more. If you attended and have your own photosets you’d like people to see, please add your links in the comments. The more, the merrier!

If you’ve got kids who really love superheroes, D*C is a great place to take them during the day.

For more pictures from me (including a lot of different Doctors — in case you haven’t figured it out, the Whoverse is my own fandom and I made it a mission to “collect” various regenerations that were costumed at the con) click here.
