Some Fan Faves Show Weakness in Summer Runs

Does the weakness of a network show’s summer reruns say anything about how the show may be losing some of their rabid fanbases?

The Office

There are a few shows that do great during summer repeats. CBS has to be thrilled at their two hours of comedy in their Tuesday night lineup: The Big Bang Theory (Viewers: #2, 5.55 million; A18-49: #2t, 1.7 rating/6 share), How I Met Your Mother (Viewers: #3, 5.29 million; A18-49: #3, 1.7/ 5), Two and a Half Men (Viewers: #1, 9.15 million; A18-49: #1, 2.9/ 8), The New Adventures of Old Christine (Viewers: #2, 7.46 million; A18-49: #2. But on the other side, there are some who are doing horribly. ABC’s “Eli Stone” had a very bad night last Saturday, with 2.63 million viewers and a a 0.8/ 3 share. (source). With some big-time fandoms backing “Law & Order: SVU” and “Without A Trace“, will Katie Holmes’ cameo be enough to draw eyeballs? Especially since all the attorneys and ex-”Homicide” junkies who might turn to ABC for a different take of lawyers will be otherwise occupied.

Even worse that night was the two-parter repeat of “The Office” on NBC, which had 2.63 million viewers and a. 0.8/ 3 in the demo> Of course, that’s not it’s usual airing night and Saturdays are flat anyway (summer, anyone? Gotta go outside sometime.)

House

But another worrysome show in its regular slot was “House“, which came in #4 in viewers with 5.21 million in a 1.7/ 5 in the demo. As it enters its fifth season, can the cantankerous doc keep that show as required live viewing?
