Juno Awards – Feist Sweeps the Junos
Greg Keelor and Jim Cuddy from Blue Rodeo present the very last Juno Award of the night. And it’s for the big one: Album of the Year.
Who’s up for this big honor: Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion, Feist, and Michael Buble. And the Juno goes to… FEIST. Her fifth award of the night!! Calgary’s own Feist becomes the biggest Juno Award winner for 2008.
Feist picks up 5 Juno Awards:
- Artist of the year
- Songwriter of the year
- Single of the year
- Top album
- Best pop album
This time, Feist gives a longer thank you speech, and asks not to be cut off by the band. She thanks her "human shield", those people in her life who help her be the person she is. Feist also says it’s an honor to receive the award from Blue Rodeo.
The performance to end the night in a bang, "and if she’d go home with me, I’d give her a bang" – Jully Black to perform "Seven Day Fool".

Feist comes in with her sweep of awards and poses for a bunch of photos. She talks about the great experience singing "1234" for the Muppets, although with different words. Which was refreshing!
Feist says it’s great to be back in Calgary, the place where she grew up. She played only two blocks away and saw her first concert here at Saddledome – Tina Turner!
It’s great to hear how proud Feist is of her heritage, and to be as proud of her Juno Awards as of a Grammy Award. Feist has been in town for three weeks to spend time with her family and be here before all the Juno craziness. All of Feist’s awards live at her mom’s house, and her first Juno (not this year) went to the house and it was a while before she got to really see it. Feist’s family brings her back to earth, and she appreciates that.
"The Reminder" was purposely open in terms of a title. It may mean the year 2008 to her at some point, but it was left open to mean something to each person who listens to the music. In a very insightful comment, she says that the competition aspect of music its most important point. Music is about the primal aspect of playing and performing and listening.

This is awesome coverage, especially of Michael Buble. He’s one of my favorites.
